Biden Speaks at Prince William Campus

Democratic Vice Presidential nominee Joe Biden (D.-Del.) spoke Thursday, Sept. 4 at the George Mason University Prince William Campus Verizon Auditorium. Biden spoke that morning in Virginia Beach about national security but chose to discuss the economy at Mason, bringing up issues such as crime, taxes, education and the price of gas and healthcare.

Students Mellow Out to John Kaplan’s Acoustic Tunes

To the delight of students, Jazzman's Café, located at the south entrance of the Johnson Center, features Tuesday Jams, weekly jam sessions that feature acoustic shows by local artists. Once again this year, the café has a full line-up of area musicians to entertain students during Tuesday Jams’ regular 4:30-6:30 p.m. time slot.

Rain or Shine, Hines Still Rocks

Despite the rain, local band Shane Hines and the Trance made their way to Damon’s Grill Saturday night to play an acoustic set of original songs as well as a few fun covers. Accompanied by bassist and “Trance” member Brian Thumbs, Hines shared his songwriting and performance skills for two hours at Live at Damon’s, which took place on the ground floor of the Student Union Building I.

Mason Cable Network Hosts Television Camp

WOMEN’S VOLLEYBALL
During last Friday’s doubleheader, the Mason’s women’s volleyball team split in the first day of the Patriot Invitational. After three tough losses to start off the season, Mason is officially in the win column after a 3-0 victory over St. Francis (25-16, 25-13, 25-21). Junior Rebecca Walter led the team with 13 kills.

Giants Beat Redskins 16-7

In their season opener last Thursday night, the Washington Redskins fell 16-7 to the defending Super Bowl Champions the New York Giants. After a poor preseason against the Carolina Panthers and the Jacksonville Jaguars, the Redskin faithful were anticipating big results from new Head Coach Jim Zorn and their beloved team, but both failed to deliver with a game that included poor performances from both the offensive and defensive sides.

Dating Doctor Comes to Mason

I sometimes think myself to be a bit of a cynic when it comes to self-help gurus; so by definition as I sat down in the Johnson Center Atrium on Friday night, I had low expectations and high skepticism. But to be fair, I decided to give love and dating guru David Coleman a fair shot as I listened to his message — mainly since my own dating life isn’t anything to boast about. Testimonials on Coleman’s website hail him as the messiah who has come unto us to deliver his message of dating success. Needless to say, in consequence of the aforementioned testimonials, his calendar is packed full of daily university talks and he offers a plethora of free dating advice online.

Fraternities and Sororities “Stomp the Yard”

Dewberry Hall was packed the night of Thursday, Aug. 28, with crowds of people sitting and standing wherever possible to have a good view of the hall’s stage. The National Pan-Hellenic Council’s “Step-Expo” event opened with Phi Beta Sigma’s Terrence Polite singing a beautiful rendition of “Lift Every Voice and Sing,” the Black National Anthem.

Tropical Storm Hanna to Hit Area This Weekend

Tropical Storm Hanna is expected to hit northern Virginia on Friday night, with the worst of the storm moving through the area on Saturday.

A Mason Alert sent early Friday evening said, "4-8 inches of rain with wind gusts up to 40-60 mph is possible."

Joe (Nicholas Cage) is determined to go out with a bang in a series of four serious hits from a crime lord Surat. Joe hires out a kid from the streets to run his errands, with the intention of killing him off at the end of the job.
