"Bromance" is in the Air
Films have been ripe with “bromances” for years. Butch Cassidy had Sundance, Riggs had Murtaugh and even Kevin Smith had his heterosexual life partners Jay and Silent Bob. But none of those have ever been as forthcoming about it as I Love You, Man.
Paul Rudd is Peter Klaven, a guy who has always had more girl friends than guys. He is much more comfortable with just going to see The Devil Wears Prada and making frappuccinos for his wife and her friends then playing poker and drinking with the guys. When he proposes to Zooey (Rashida Jones of The Office), the question arises: who will be his best man? His brother Robbie (Saturday Night Live’s Andy Samberg) suggests he go on a series of man-dates to find the right guy to ask the big question to.
Parade of Nations Changes Format
& Connect2Mason Breaking News Director Matt Todd
International Week’s Parade of Nations will be taking on a new format this year, focusing on individual participants of different cultures and changing its name to Opening Ceremony and Celebration or Parade of Students. International Week and Parade of Nations have been traditions at Mason for 29 years and give the Mason community an opportunity to celebrate diversity and cultural heritage.
The Parade of Students is a walking parade and includes a welcome speech along with one or two cultural performances. This year, the event will not represent different nations but rather focus on the individuals participating in the parade.
A High-Scoring Affair
The women’s lacrosse team (2-4) lost 16-10 to the fourth-ranked Georgetown University Hoyas (5-2) on Wednesday at George Mason Stadium.
The Patriots found themselves down 5-2 after the first 10 minutes of the first half, but the team would storm back into the game after scoring five unanswered goals to take the lead at 7-5 with 5:32 remaining in the first.
The final three goals of that streak came from junior attacker Megan Udovich, who seemed nearly unstoppable around the goal in the first half. For 12-and-a-half minutes, Mason scored five consecutive goals and rarely allowed the Hoyas to control the ball, much less get a shot off.

Bands Play Hyped-Up Show at Coffee Shop
Story by Broadside Correspondent Ian Crocker
This St. Patty’s Day, while all my friends were out drinking pints of Guinness, I chose to celebrate the patron saint with some different substances: caffeine and punk rock.
After a short trip on the metro, I jumped off the train and made my way over to Murky Coffee, a first rate coffee shop and popular venue for DIY shows in the Clarendon neighborhood of Arlington.
On this particular evening, several bands from the D.C. area and beyond were set to play. These included Ingrid, a two-piece band from the District, Suis la Lune, from Sweden, and Virginia’s very own Fine Lines.

Mason will host a set of highly-anticipated events this week, beginning with a conference and the keynote address from former Soviet President and Nobel Laureate Mikhail Gorbachev at the Center for the Arts Concert Hall on Tuesday, March 24.
Volunteering Leads to Bookstore Discount
Students who have documented volunteer hours of community service may now be eligible to receive a 20 percent discount at the George Mason University Bookstore, thanks to collaboration between Student Government and bookstore management.
The discount, formerly part of the Community Service Encouragement Program, serves to encourage students to commit time to volunteer efforts, either individual or organizational, both on and off campus. With proper documentation, it offers a once-a-semester 20 percent discount on all Mason gear for students that have dedicated a minimum of 50 volunteer hours of community service, 25 which are off campus.
Russian Ballet Performs Cinderella
The Center for the Arts is a great place to catch breathtaking artistic presentations, like Friday's Russian Ballet performance of Cinderella. Student Media photographer Randy Urick captured shots from the ballet that will make you feel as though you were in the front row.

Bill Tabled; Three Student Senators Resign
At the March 5 Student Government meeting, a resolution was put forth to start the two-week advertising period, required by the school constitution, before a hearing is held on a proposed constitutional amendment. The bill to amend the constitution was sent to the Government and Academic Affairs Committee — the resolution for the hearing, however, was tabled indefinitely.
According to Student Senate Speaker Jeremy Miller, “If we table something usually you have set a date when to bring it up or after something else has been addressed... To table indefinitely means it’s tabled and can't be removed or brought back to the agenda.”
