I come from a family of sweet-tooths (sweet-teeth?). If there's one thing my family cares about, it's how to get a quick fixin' for our cravings. And there is one season, one time of year, that we look forward to more than Christmas and Thanksgiving combined as far as sweets go...

    Girl scout cookie season.

That is why I have decided, for your reading pleasure, to discuss and rate these treats, to help people of all kinds and to live by the girl scout law.

Mason's season is not over yet. While they cannot win the NCAA title, they have the opportunity to play in the National Invitational Tournament, which kicks off tonight.

The Patriots will travel to State College, Penn., to face the Nittany Lions of Penn State at the Bryce Jordan Center. Tip-off is slated for 8 p.m. and will be broadcast on ESPNU.

The Nittany Lions finished 22-11 and they are 5-0 lifetime against Mason, 3-0 since Jim Larranaga took over in Fairfax. Mason comes in 22-10 and are fresh off their 21-point defeat in the Colonial Athletic Association championship game against VCU.

Tonight's game will mark the 4-year anniversary of Mason winning their first-ever NCAA Tournament game in Dayton against the Michigan State Spartans 75-65.

LET'S GO MASON!!!

The Last House on the Left is Well Made Trash

The Last House on the Left

    By Connect2Mason Blogger Josh Hylton

This is probably one of the hardest reviews I've ever had to write. Not because I don't know what to say or don't have a strong opinion one way or another. I'm just so torn between my admiration for what is technically a well made thriller and my hatred for the way it shamelessly subjected me to brutal rapes, stabbings, tortures, and murders all for the sake of "entertainment." This is not a horror movie. This is a snuff film. The Last House on the Left is a disgusting, vile piece of cinematic filth with a pessimistic bend that no human being anywhere should ever see.

If you've seen the 1972 original Wes Craven horror movie like I have, I suspect your reaction to the remake will largely be the same. If you enjoyed it, you will probably enjoy this one (and you're a sick person), but if you felt like you needed a shower and vowed to never ever watch it again, you should steer clear. As for me, I'm with the latter group.

Watchmen Scores on the Big Screen

They said that it could not be done. It was said to be unfilmable. For years, some of the top directors have attempted to make Watchmen, easily one of the most celebrated graphic novels of all time, into a feature length film, but to no avail. Then Christopher Nolan opened the floodgates with Batman Begins.

Nolan ushered in a new era of superhero film, one where the internal struggles and the decisions that heroes make are just as important as the maniacal villain. Over twenty years after Alan Moore's original novel was released, Zack Snyder (director of 2004's Dawn of the Dead remake and 300) makes his impressive adaptation that will make fanboys drool and make the uninitiated run to the comic store.

Basketball: Patriots Beat JMU, 71-59

By Broadside Staff Writer Fox Parker

The George Mason Patriots beat James Madison University, 71-59, in the quarterfinals of the CAA Tournament at the Richmond Coliseum.

The win moves the Patriots one step closer to winning the CAA Tournament and provides some much needed revenge for the Patriots, who lost to JMU exactly a month ago in Harrisonburg.

After the opening tip, the game quickly became a scrappy slugfest. The Patriots faithful fans added fuel to the fire by loudly jeering the Dukes in this gritty, passionate battle of state rivals.
