Senior Janaa Pickard set a new Patriot Center record against Utah Valley, recording 21 points and 21 rebounds in her first double-double of the season. Sophomore Taylor Brown is currently leading the Patriots with 17 points per game, while Pickard is averaging 15 points and 11 rebounds per game.

After a 76-70 win over Northern Iowa, the Patriots (3-0) look to keep their winning streak alive as the Red Flash (1-3) visit Fairfax.
Marko Gujanicic recorded his second double-double in as many games as a starter against UNI on Saturday and is projected to get the starting spot in tonight’s matchup. Sherrod Wright leads Mason in scoring, averaging 16.3 points per game, while Gujanicic leads the team in rebounding, averaging 8.3 per game.
Mason men's basketball defeats Northern Iowa 76-70
|The Mason men’s basketball team defeated Northern Iowa 76-70 at home on Saturday at the Patriot Center. Sophomore Marko Gujanicic recorded his second double-double in two straight games as a starter, while Sherrod Wright tallied 23 points and Patrick Holloway, who started in place of injured point guard Bryon Allen, ended with 11 points respectively.

Mason women's basketball defeats Utah Valley 82-64 in home opener
|Mason women’s basketball sailed past Utah Valley last night, in an 82-64 win in the team’s home opener at the Patriot Center. Senior Janaa Pickard tallied a career-high 21 points and 21 rebounds in the last home opener of her Mason career, sealing the victory for the Patriots.
“We have kind of nicknamed her ’The X-Factor,’” said Nyla Milleson, the Patriots’ head coach. “I truly believe that she’s the X-Factor for us to be successful.”

Mason (1-1) is coming off of a 74-67 win against Morehead State, after dropping their first game of the season to East Carolina. Redshirt sophomore Taylor Brown led the team with 24 points, eight rebounds and five steals, while Sandra Ngoie contributed 14 points and tallied eight rebounds in the game.

Mason men's basketball comes from behind to win 63-60 in home opener
|The Mason men’s basketball team ended the game on an 11-3 run to win their season home opener, 63-60 against American University on Friday night at the Patriot Center.
The Patriots trailed the Eagles, 57-52 with 4:15 left to play when a pair of free throws from Jalen Jenkins began an 11-0 Mason run. A three-point play by Bryon Allen with 3:32 remaining cut the deficit to one when he drew hard contact to make the layup. Strong Mason defense forced a turnover by American and Sherrod Wright got the steal and lifted the score to 58-57 in Mason’s favor.
