Anytime Dining comes to Mason next fall

All you can eat, when you want to eat it. 

That’s the motto of the new Anytime Dining system that Mason Dining will be implementing next fall.

On Nov. 7, the student senate passed a resolution that expressed support of this dining plan. The resolution was submitted by Stacy Fleming, the chairwoman of the University Services Committee.

Mason Gives Back helps with Typhoon Haiyan relief efforts

At the top of the Mason Gives Back website is a letter asking for monetary donations to help with the ongoing relief effort in the wake of Typhoon Haiyan.

Mason awarded $500,000 Cybersecurity Grant

This past summer, the National Science Foundation granted $500,000 to George Mason's School of Management and Volgenau School of Engineering. The grant was awarded to fund research on cyber security, with the hope that Mason's curriculum for cyber security leadership offered within the Management of Secure Information Systems program will become a national model.  According to the National Science Foundation’s website, there is a cyber security leadership gap in the U.S.

Undocumented students at Mason

When Dayana Torres was a senior in high school, she received full-ride scholarships to five different colleges.

“When I received the letters from the schools, I looked at the bottom and it said that a social security number was required to accept the scholarship,” Torres said.

Provost search committee chairman hosts open forum

The search for a new provost to replace Peter Stearns, who has held the position since 2000, is underway. Professor T. Mills Kelly, the chair of the Provost Search Committee, hosted a forum October 24th to discuss the search with the public.

“It’s a chance for me and others in the search committee to hear feedback,” Kelly said.

Election Day at Mason

Fairfax proved a pivotol county in the tight Governor's election. Over 800 students, faculty, staff, and Fairfax residents stopped by University Hall to cast their ballots. Democratic Terry McAuliffe won the election with 47.74% of the vote, defeating Republican Ken Cuccinelli and Libertarian Robert Sarvis. 303,465 votes were cast in Fairfax, with 67,000 votes more for McAuliffe than Cuccinelli: almost exactly what the Democrat needed to win.

Administrative officials express support for undocumented students at Mason DREAMers event

Leaders from multiple Mason administrative offices expressed their support and listened to student suggestions for proposed aid to undocumented students at a panel discussion this Monday.

“We want to fully support Mason DREAMers because their goals are [University Life’s] goals," said Rose Pascarell, vice president of University Life, who was on the panel.
