The Patriots take down rival JMU on the road, 75-73

In front of a packed stadium and a television audience away from home, the Patriots (14-5, 6-2) snapped the James Madison Dukes’ (15-5, 5-3) perfect home record with a 75-73 win.

A late run seals the 15-point win for Patriots against Georgia State

It was the worst start the Patriots have had all season. They did eventually pull out a win, however, with a late run, 66-51 over the Panthers of Georgia State.

Early graduates look to the future

In the fall of 2007, Deena Smith was just starting out as a George Mason University freshman. Just three years later, thanks to extra college credits she obtained while in a dual enrollment program in high school, Smith is now working toward a Master’s degree in social work at Howard University.

Smith, who graduated from Mason last spring with a BA in psychology, is one of a small number of Mason students who completed their academic careers in less than four years.

The Office of Student Involvement recently unveiled next semester’s Homecoming theme, “There’s No Place like Mason.”

Metro to Mason shuttle catches fire, no injuries

No injuries were reported this morning after a Metro to Mason shuttle carrying approximately 14 passengers caught fire, according to Mason’s parking and transportation director.

At approximately 7:45 a.m. the driver of the Reston Limousine shuttle bus sensed there was a problem after he heard a pop from the engine. The driver then pulled off the road and into the Sunrise Senior Assisted Living home parking lot.

Then smoke began coming from the hood of the vehicle and the driver evacuated the passengers and called 911.
