Boehm-Davis named new dean of CHSS

Deborah Boehm-Davis, the current associate dean of the College of Humanities and Social Sciences, has been chosen to succeed Jack Censer as the new dean of the college.

She is scheduled to assume her new role on July 1.

Boehm-Davis is also a university professor of psychology at Mason. She holds a Bachelor of Arts degree in psychology from Douglass College and Rutgers University, as well as both a Master's degree and a PhD in cognitive psychology from the University of California, Berkley.

Nation's oldest honors society comes to Mason

After decades of applications, George Mason University has been awarded a Phi Beta Kappa chapter.

Provost Peter Stearns, undergraduate education programs coordinator Marcy Glover, and history professor Marion Deshmukh have worked for years to bring a chapter of the honors society to Mason. According to Deshmukh, the university has been applying for a chapter since the 1980s.

Among other administrator changes, Provost Stearns to step down in 2013

Provost Peter Stearns plans to step down from his role as senior academic administrator in the summer of 2013 and transition into full-time teaching with the history department. He is one of several key administrators whose positions will need to be filled within the next two years.
