Welcome to the A-10: 2014 Mason women's lacrosse
|Despite snowy conditions and bitter cold, the Mason women’s lacrosse team opened play last week against the University of California, Davis, losing 9-8. They followed up their season opener with another one point defeat, this time served by Winthrop.
Picked to finish fifth in their first season as a member of the Atlantic 10, here is a quick rundown of each team, key players and games vs. the Patriots over the coming months:

Welcome to the A-10: 2014 Mason Softball
|Last week, Mason softball opened the 2014 campaign in South Carolina, taking on Ball State and USC Upstate in tournament play.
The team, coached by Joe Verbanic, faces an entirely new set of conference opponents, as the move to the Atlantic 10 starts new rivalries with the likes of George Washington, St. Joseph’s, and the University of Massachusetts.
Despite being selected to finish seventh in the conference preseason poll, Mason returns 19 of 22 from the 2013 roster.

|With a 2-1 win over St. Bonaventure University over the weekend, the Mason men’s soccer team secured the second seed entering the A-10 conference championship today, facing Saint Joseph’s University in Dayton, Ohio.

|At first glance, it would be hard-pressed to differentiate this particular office in the Field House from any other on the George Mason University campus. The desk with the intimidating stacks of paperwork is there, as is the comfortable chair and the desktop computer. The office is no different than the typical one in which a Mason employee would spend an entire workday.
Atlantic 10 conference announces men's basketball national TV schedule
|This morning, the Atlantic 10 conference announced the men's basketball national television schedule. Mason will play on a variety of national TV outlets during the 2013-2014 season, including appearances on CBS Sports Network, NBC Sports Network and ESPNU for the Diamond Head Classic.

|While I was looking for numbers about the age of Mason's faculty, I stumbled across an annual "Factbook" that's compiled by the Office of Institutional Research and Reporting. The document is packed with information on everything from where freshmen are from to how the university spends its money.
Mason announces move to the Atlantic 10 for all sports effective July 1
|George Mason University announced in a press conference today their decision to move to the Atlantic 10 conference for all sports, effective on July 1.
According to a Mason Athletics press release, the university’s decision to move to the A-10 will “help further showcase the exemplary contributions of Mason’s faculty and students and all that the university has to offer."
