Patriots escape for Homecoming victory over ODU, 54-50
|In front of a sold-out Homecoming crowd, the Patriots were able to bounce back from their loss earlier in the week by taking down the Monarchs of Old Dominion by a final count of 54-50 in what was a sluggish game offensively for both squads. With the win, the Patriots swept the Monarchs for the first time in 10 years.
George Mason (19-6, 11-2) shot just 27.7 percent from the floor in the game and ODU (15-10, 10-3) shot just 32.8 percent. Neither team could find the bottom of the basket throughout.
Patriots hope to rebound for Homecoming
|Coming off just their second conference loss, Paul Hewitt and his George Mason Patriots (18-6, 10-2) return to Fairfax looking to dethrone the Monarchs of Old Dominion in front of the Homecoming crowd Saturday afternoon.
With their loss at Delaware Wednesday night, the Patriots also dropped their position alone in first place of the CAA. They now sit in a three-way tie atop the standings with Drexel and VCU. The Patriots lost their only matchup against Drexel this season back on Jan. 12 in Philadelphia and have two games upcoming against rival VCU.
