Mason men's basketball outlasts Richmond 69-60 for first A-10 home victory
|Mason men’s basketball topped Richmond on Wednesday night at the Patriot Center, 69-60.
Sherrod Wright led the Patriots with 19 points, followed by Bryon Allen with 18 points and seven defensive rebounds. Patrick Holloway also ended the night in double-figures with 10, while Jalen Jenkins had nine rebounds.

Richmond (18-9, 8-4 A-10) is coming off a 62-49 victory over LaSalle on Saturday and have won four of their past five contests.
Mason (9-17, 2-10 A-10) is coming off an 89-85 loss to No. 10 Saint Louis, where the Patriots took the Billikens into overtime for the second time this season.
St. Bonaventure defeats Mason men's basketball, 85-73
|Despite a large alumni contingent at the Patriot Center on Saturday night to watch Mason play its first Homecoming game as a member of the Atlantic 10, the Patriots failed to feed off of the raucous crowd, falling to St. Bonaventure’s 85-73 in their first matchup as conference foes.
Mason, now 9-16 on the campaign, is 2-9 in A-10 play and are in a three-way tie for last place alongside Rhode Island and Fordham. Both teams, however, hold tie breakers over Mason with head-to-head victories.

This will be the second meeting between these two teams this season, with UMass taking the last decision in the final eight seconds of the game in Fairfax last month, 88-87.
The Patriots (8-15, 1-8 A-10) snapped a nine-game losing streak and captured their first Atlantic 10 Conference win on the road on Saturday after defeating Duquesne, 74-68.
Mason men's basketball falls to Dayton, 84-67
|Mason men’s basketball fell to Dayton on Wednesday night, 84-67.
Jordan Sibert led all scorers with 19, as the Flyers shot 54.9 percent from the floor on 28-51 shooting. Sherrod Wright led the Patriots with 18 points, followed by Bryon Allen with 16 and Corey Edwards with 10. Mason shot 40.0 percent on 18-45 shooting, but won the rebounding battle 30-28 in the game.

This will be the first meeting between these two teams as members of the Atlantic 10 conference. Dayton leads the all-time series 3-1, with the Flyers having won the last three meetings.
The Patriots (7-14, 0-7 A-10) are on an eight-game losing streak heading into this matchup, after falling to nationally ranked Saint Louis on the road in overtime last Saturday, 87-81.
Mason men's basketball falls to GW, 75-69
|George Washington men’s basketball defeated Mason on Saturday at the Patriot Center, 75-69. The Colonials improve to 16-3 overall and 4-1 in Atlantic 10 play, while the Patriots dropped to 7-13 and 0-6 in conference. All five starters finished in double-figures for the Colonials, with forward Kevin Larsen and guard Joe McDonald each with 14.
From Paul VI to Mason, Holloway shoots for success
|When Paul Hewitt signed on to coach the Mason men’s basketball team in May 2011, he needed a shooter. So, he turned straight away to longtime acquaintance and AAU coach, Keith Stevens, who gave him one name: Patrick Holloway.
“I actually started recruiting him before I even saw him play a high school game,” said Hewitt. “And, we were fortunate enough to get him.”
A look back at losing streaks -- men's basketball
|Mason men’s basketball let another close fought game slip through the fingertips in the waning minutes last night.
Traveling north to take on Fordham in a battle of teams winless in Atlantic 10 play, Mason struggled to hold onto a 10-point lead in the second half.
After scoring only 36 points through the first 25 minutes of play, Fordham’s offense clicked over the final 15 minutes. Connecting on nearly 71 percent of their attempted field goals, the Rams stormed past the Patriots for a 76-70 victory.

This will be the second meeting between the Patriots (7-11, 0-4 A-10) and the Rams (7-10, 0-4 A-10) in program history, with Fordham taking the last decision, 64-55, in the Cable Car Classic in Santa Clara, CA on Dec. 30, 2000.
