Celebrating Mason Week

The Fairfax campus will play host to a slew of events in preparation for Mason Week, beginning on April 20. Today, Parking and Transportation Services will have free bike tune-ups from 11 a.m. to 1 p.m. Later this evening, Program Board will host comedian Ryan Conner as he takes the stage at 8 p.m. in the Bistro.

Tuesday, from 11 a.m. to 2 p.m., Program Board will host Mason Field Day in North Plaza. According to Program Board’s website, “The event will feature free food, novelties and the Coke Trailer sponsored by University Services.” There will also be a recycling competition in conjunction with the event. Following Mason Field Day, Program Board will host Tuesday Jams in Jazzman’s Café located on the lower level of the Johnson Center. The one-hour event will begin at 3 p.m.

On Wednesday, Parking and Transportation Services will host Bike to Mason at North Plaza. According to transportation.gmu.edu, students can “receive free food, a free bike tune-up, a free Bike to Mason T-shirt, and be entered into a drawing for great prizes and more.” Pre-registration is available online on the transportation services website. Also on Wednesday, University Services will host a farmers’ market opening from 11:30 a.m. to 3:30 p.m. at North Plaza. During the event, students can purchase fresh crops from local farmers.

Thursday will be the biggest day of Mason Week. Program Board will host the annual Mason Day celebration in parking lot L from 11 a.m. to 5 p.m.
During the event, students can receive free food and participate in multiple activities. There will also be a $50 cash prize from Apple Credit Union for one lucky winner who wears their Mason blackout shirt. Later in the evening, Program Board will host T-Pain with special guests Tay Dizm and Sophia Fresh. The show will begin at 7 p.m. Tickets for the event are $5 for students, but will include a $5 voucher for concessions at the event.

On Friday, illusionist Justin Kredible is hosting a free show in the JC Atrium at 9 p.m.

For the last event of Mason Week, students are invited to come to Six Flags America. Tickets for the event are $15 plus tax and will include special admission that allows those who purchase through the offer to be allowed in the park for special hours. Students can go to sixflags.com/america and enter “masonweek” as the promo code for the discount. There will also be tickets sold for a buffet.
