Freddie Mac CFO Found Dead in Vienna Home

Freddie Mac’s acting chief financial officer David Kellerman, 41, of Vienna, Va., was found dead last Wednesday in the basement of his home in what police said was an apparent suicide.

Kellerman, who started at Freddie Mac 16 years ago as an accountant, was promoted last September when the government seized the mortgage company, ousting top executives. Neighbors said Kellermann had lost a noticeable amount of weight under the strain of the new position and economic condition.

A source close to the company says that only a day before the apparent suicide the chief human resources officer had met with Kellerman to discuss taking time off from hours at the office.

Airports Authority Pushes Forward with Dulles Metrorail

With federal funding for the Metrorail to Reston secured, the Metropolitan Washington Airports Authority is taking steps to quickly complete the extension to Washington Dulles International Airport and into Loudoun County.

The expected end-date for the project, as presented to the airports authority board members earlier this month, is December 2016.

The board’s Dulles Committee has recommended the authority bid the project as a design-build project, limiting any potential delays to the project if design and building were bid separately. Not pursuing a design-build project may push completion into 2018, according to airports authority staff.

The board looks to pick up preliminary engineering efforts in the coming months.

Commission Votes to End Free-Ride Program

The Northern Virginia Transportation Commission voted last week to discontinue its program that allowed area resident to get free bus rides on Code Red air quality days.

According to a press release from the NVTC, the $2.6 million in funding will be reallocated to other transit projects to compensate for a reduction in funding from the federal government.

The commission still encourages Northern Virginia residents to carpool or use transit, especially on poor air quality days.

Measles Reported in Va.

The first case of measles in Northern Virginia was confirmed last Tuesday, following several recent cases in neighboring Maryland. No known link exists between the cases, according to Virginia Health Department officials.

Known exposures in Fairfax County include Harris Teeter in McLean, IHOP in Falls Church and CVS in Fairfax Station. Known exposures in Prince William County include a 7-Eleven and Safeway in Woodbridge.
