Court Dismisses EndNote Lawsuit against Mason
By Connect2Mason Director Christian Smith
Thomson Reuters Inc. filed a law suit in September 2008 against George Mason University.
The suit alleged that Zotero, a free application that assists in the collection, management and citation of research sources created by Mason's Center for History and New Media, "converts and/or distributes in whole or in part, Thomson's proprietary EndNote Desktop software product," according to court documents, causing "irreparable harm to Thomson."
Yesterday, Virginia's 19th Judicial Circuit Court suit was dismissed from the bench on procedural grounds, according to a University official. Thomson Reuters' legal counsel did not respond to Connect2Mason for comment by press time.
