Mason Attempts a World Record

By Broadside Editor-in-Chief Emily Sharrer

As part of this week’s Welcome Week festivities, Mason Nation will attempt to land on the pages of the Guinness Book of World Records by playing the longest game of telephone ever on Wednesday from 3 to 9 p.m. in the North Plaza.

The current world record is held by a group of students from Britain who had a total of 1,330 telephone players.

According to Dennis Hicks, associate director of Student Activities, with nearly 2,000 students in the freshmen class alone, and over 30,000 total students, Mason should easily set the world record.

“There are 1,800 students in the freshman class,” said Dennis Hicks, associate director of Student Activities, who hopes for a good turnout for the record-breaking event this Wednesday.

Students interested in participating should meet in the Johnson Center North Plaza at 3 p.m.
