Wayne Brady to Perform at Mason
By Broadside Style Editor Patrick Wall
Brace yourself — Wayne Brady is coming to Mason. On Oct. 17, the multi-talented pop icon will be performing at the Patriot Center.
Brady rose to national prominence in the early 2000s for his work on the improvisational comedy show Whose Line is it, Anyway? In addition to his acting abilities, Brady displayed his powerful voice and impressive dance moves on the show. For his efforts he earned a Primetime Emmy, the first time a television actor received the honor in over ten years.
Due to his immense popularity, Brady returned in 2001 with the daytime talk show The Wayne Brady Show. He has since appeared on several television programs and is set to host the revamped game show Let’s Make a Deal this fall.
Brady returned to pop culture relevance in 2004 after appearing on the sketch comedy series Chapelle’s Show. His sketch featured several popular catch phrases and introduced Brady to a younger audience.
In the fall of 2008 he released his first album, Long Time Coming. The lead single, “Ordinary”, peaked at number 30 on the Top R&B and Hip Hop charts. Notable for its traditional R&B style, the album was applauded by critics and fans alike.
Brady’s live show is uniquely his, combining his signature comedy with music and dance. With the help of a backing band, Brady performs songs from his album as well as those of classic artists.
