Wanted: Cartoonists, Digital Artists and Graphic Illustrators
This could be you. And you could draw it better.
Psst. Over here.
Heard that Connect2Mason is expanding and reinventing its coverage this fall? Here's another secret we're letting out: we're also beefing up our visuals.
Over the past semester, C2M has reported and produced content with hopes of better informing you, the reader, and keeping you most up-to-date about happenings at Mason. We'll admit, however, that sometimes we've delivered subpar visuals to accompany our stories.
Because we feel that cartoons, graphics and other illustrations can significantly enhance a reader's experience - books with pictures were the bomb in grade school, not to mention that English class last spring - C2M is making adjustments for the fall. We're redefining our visual identity, and put simply, stories on the new site are going to be pretty.
Now's the time that we direct your attention to the above picture. We need your help.
Connect2Mason is seeking two to three cartoonists, digital artists and/or graphic illustrators to regularly contribute to its redesigned Web site. These folk will form the core of C2M's "Visual Stories Team," a group of right-brained, tech-savvy artists who will pour their creative juices into the site by:
- Teaming with reporters and editors to visually portray select stories and news pieces through the use of cartoons, graphic illustrations and other creative media
- Assisting senior editorial staff in the development of logos, icons and other imagery for the site's new sections, categories and blogs
- Helping design promotional material and otherwise contributing to the site's visual identity on the George Mason University campus
Sound like a cool gig? It's a role where you'd get to showcase your talent on the Web, and at the same time, contribute to the overall knowledge and experience of students and other members of the greater Mason community.
Adobe software and other multimedia experience is preferred, but not necessary. If you're interested, or would like to know more, e-mail exec.editor@connect2mason.com. We'll go from there.
