Hold off on your Halloween costume and grab your Greek letters, Mason gear and maybe a fake mug of eggnog-- George Mason University is filming its first-ever holiday video this week.

The video, originally President Alan Merten's idea, will eventually be posted on Mason's homepage and be sent to students, faculty, staff, alumni and others in the community.

Three filming sessions will take place at the George Mason statue and are open to students, faculty, staff and other members of the Mason community. On on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 3 – 4:30 p.m. or on Thursday, Oct. 28 from 9 – 10:30 a.m., each attendee will be given the opportunity to decorate the depiction of the university's namesake with green, gold and white lights, as well as "peace" ornaments.

All are welcomed back for the grand finale shot on Thursday at noon. Students and student organizations are "free to wear Greek letters, athletic uniforms, other Mason gear or something that expresses your cultural and ethnic heritage."

"We are so excited to be taping Mason's first-ever holiday video this week," said Christine LaPaille, Vice President for University Relations. "The video features a song written by our own Doc Nix about unity, diversity, peace and joy."

Other universities have created similar videos in the past, including this 2009 "Holiday Greetings!" video from University of Maryland.

Full details of the filming from are posted below.

Please join the entire Mason community on Wednesday, Oct. 27 from 3 –
