Campus Crusade for Christ poses question on freedom
What does it mean to be truly free? That was the question being asked on a giant poster board outside the Johnson Center in North Plaza last week on April 13 and 14. The event, which was sponsored by Campus Crusade for Christ, was an outreach project meant to promote conversation between students of different religious backgrounds and to make people think.
Meliah Mead, a sophomore global affairs major said, “we’re just trying to get people’s opinions, and learn from them.” Mead was one of the women running the event and speaking to students about what they thought it meant to be free.
Deanna Jefferson, a freshman computer engineering major described the event as a “Great way to meet people and see what they’re going through.”
Jefferson said the ultimate goal was to “Spread the word of God,” and to “Pray for people who need it.”
Kevin Duffy, a current graduate student studying philosophy who participated in the event described it as “less offensive and more open” than some of the Christian activity seen previously, such as when a controversial preacher stopped by Mason’s North Plaza last week.
