Nobel Peace Prize Laureate to speak at Mason
Nobel Peace Prize Laureate Shirim Ebadi has spent her life defending the rights of women, promoting human rights and helping children and political prisoners in Iran; and this Friday she will speak at Mason.
Ebadi won the Nobel Peace Prize in 2003 and on Friday she will discuss her recent book, “The Golden Cage.”
Ebadi was the first Muslim woman to receive the Nobel Peace Prize and was one of the first female judges in Iran. She has published over 70 articles and 13 books dedicated to protecting human rights.
The event will be from 1-3 p.m. in Research 1, Room 163 and the event is open to the public. Pizza and refreshments will also be served.
