Thoughts on the Bashville B-boy Event

Reader Contribution: By Mason Student Karim Ramzy

I attended the Bashville Stampede in Nashville, Tenn. last Saturday. It was a b-boying, breakdancing, event hosted by Q-Kong.

The event occurred in Rocketown, which is an interesting place because it seems to cater to the alternative crowd of Nashville. This was what made the event different; outside there were skateboarders and a wall covered in graffiti pieces, on the top floor there were video game competitions, a live rock show, and a cafe and lounge area, and in the main bottom area is where the b-boy event took place, was just a door away from a hard rock show with a mosh pit.

Overall the event was very well put together, by Q-Kong, and seemed to have a lot of sponsors. The music was great, I believe they had four dj's and someone up there with a beat machine too. People from all over came to battle. There was a beat-rocking competition, which was basically who can dance to the beat, in whatever style, the best and the b-boy competition. Both were very good and extremely entertaining. The event was an overall good time.
