UPDATED: Vote tallies and quotes at 2:26 p.m.

Zack Golden and Claire Forman won the 2008 Student Government Elections. The announcement came after a debate between the College Democrats and Republicans in the Johnson Center food court.

"I don't know what to say right now," said Forman, vice president elect. "I can hardly breathe. We had a lot of people come out and turn things around right up to midnight."

When Golden was asked how he thought they won the election, he said, "Really just one on one individual contact. We talked a lot of people on the campaign. We really reached out to everybody - talked to a lot of commuters - especially - we talked to a lot of commuters. I think that's really what helped us."

GMU is screwed

I'm glad I leaving. George Mason voted for the worst candidates. Tuition decreases = worse degree.

Hmmm

"I'm glad I leaving"

I'm pretty sure that no matter how high the tuition gets, it's not going to help you.

Wait

Am I to understand that you are saying if tuition is cheaper, then the degree becomes less valuable?

masonstudent | Thu, 04/17/2008 - 14:24

In general

The less money the university has, the less money is has to spend on quality services, professors, and expansion. It is in your interests that George Mason University is able to grow as it means that your degree will have all that much more name recognition.

I hope the other campaigns learned a political lesson

I have no doubt that the petty attacks during the debate turned a lot of people off. For once I voted for the winning candidate.

Congratulations!

I'm really happy to see that these two won the student government election. They were by far the best suited for their respective positions in my opinion. I'm looking forward to seeing what they accomplish over the next school year :)
