Park Residents Charged for Damaged Dryers

Due to vandalism to clothes dryers, students will be individually charged $1.12 to their accounts, according to a recent e-mail sent out by Erin Brandt, a resident director to dorm residents in Presidents Park last Wednesday. The estimation of the damage is $1,300 and because no one took responsibility for the crime, the entire community involved will have to pay a fine.
Measure for Measure Amuses Audiences

Deception, sexual relationships, justice and morality are the main themes of William Shakespeare’s "Measure for Measure." This “problem comedy,” whose issues still hold true today, was the final GMU Players production for this spring and debuted on April 24 in the TheaterSpace.
GMU Players once again reinforced Shakespeare’s staying power with their performance.
Patriot Circle to Turn into 'The Oval'

Plans are underway for new developments to expand Patriot Circle into "The Oval," according to recent construction plans featured on George Mason University’s Facilities Web site. New additions include at least one university gateway, retail and convenience stores as well as innovative landscaping.

George Mason University President Alan Merten has taken the first step in making sure that the green movement will continue at Mason for years to come. Merten recently signed the American College & University Presidents Climate Commitment, which pledges Mason’s commitment to sustainability.
Testival Event Promotes Monthly Self-Exams

Testival intends to raise awareness and make medical knowledge fun, as George Mason University students will learn more about testicular cancer and its effects on April 30 at the Fairfax campus.
According to information placed on flyers for the event, the Testival will focus on monthly self-exams similar in response to the annual Breastival, which raises awareness towards breast cancer and prevention.
Students Extend Mason Week to Friday

This year, the Mason Week celebration did not end on Thursday.

Students hosted a first annual After Mason Day Luau on Friday, April 25 from 6-9 p.m. with tropical-themed décor, music and events along the Mason Pond. The event offered a Hawaiian-style buffet with food such as barbecue ribs, chicken, rice and pineapple bits. Students relaxed on the lawn, played games and enjoyed the refreshments, music and nice weather.
Softball Drops Weekend Series to Madison

In the previous 11 games, the George Mason Patriots' softball team had been able to score enough runs to back up solid pitching performances.
This past weekend, the offense could not get anything going.
Despite Becky Anderson pitching her third complete game in two days, George Mason (19-29, 6-11 CAA) was not able to put any runs on the board against Meredith Felts and James Madison (27-20, 11-6 CAA) in a 3-0 defeat Sunday at George Mason Field.

UWC Invasion Brings Action to the Patriot Center

For those that have not caught on to the national craze of Mixed Martial Arts, MMA, Saturday was the perfect opportunity to get an up-close and personal look at one of the fastest rising sports in the world.
The Ultimate Warrior Challenge, UWC, brought Invasion to the Patriot Center, drawing a strong number in the seats of the arena nestled 20 minutes southwest of Washington, D.C.
Softball Drops Heartbreaker to Madison

After giving pitching ace Becky Anderson rest in their midweek series against North Carolina Central, George Mason coach Joe Verbanic was confident the sophomore pitcher would be able to pitch well enough to keep the Patriots within reach to beat James Madison.
Anderson did just that, but a lack of offense in game one and defensive lapses in game two would keep the Patriots out of the win column.
