First Night Mason Welcomes Students Back!

Thursday was the first day of freshman move-in. New and old students gathered for First Night Mason, an annual event sponsored by Student Activities. Students participated in karaoke, relay races, and other events. Starbucks gave away coffee samples, and students seemed to enjoy the start of the new school year.

Starbucks Opens on Fairfax Campus

24 hour Starbucks on campus.The very words give me a bit of an excited chill. Mason’s coolness factor just shot way up in my opinion.

I walked into the Mason Starbucks on its first day of business, hoping to talk to a Manager for this story. As a sign of how busy they are preparing for the official start of school next week, I was asked if maybe could do Thursday. Hah. I decided to look around on my own for the day.

Obama Introduces GI Bill at Mason

President Barack Obama spoke today at an event held at George Mason University's Harris Theater unveiling the "Post 9-11 Veterans Educational Assistance Act of 2008."

The Act is modeled after the original GI Bill passed in 1944 which assisted World War II veterans to obtain college degrees. John Warner, a former United States Senator for Virginia and guest speaker at the event, touted the fact that his engineering degree was paid for through that bill.
