Hey Patriots. Before you head out for spring break, we wanted to give you a heads up on a new weekly feature on Connect2Mason, the C2M Snap of the Week.
The idea's pretty simple:
Time to add new classes reduced starting in fall
|Beginning this fall, George Mason University students will have only one week following the start of the semester to add classes.
An e-mail was sent to students on March 9 notifying them of the decision.
Mason Nation to gather for 'Selection Sunday' Watch Party

Tuition to rise starting this fall
|The faculty and staff of George Mason University gathered Wednesday in the Johnson Center Cinema to hear Senior Vice President Maurice Scherrens and Provost Peter Stearns give an update on the university’s budget.
With very few students in attendance, faculty and staff members filled the cinema hoping to hear about potential salary increases and an updates on tuition increases.
On the minds of many students is the increase in tuition rates.
Questions surround management of George Mason’s former home
|Supporters of George Mason’s former home, Gunston Hall Estate, are questioning the historic landmark’s future after the dismissal of the sites long time education coordinator in late January.
Gunston Hall has long since been a museum open to visitors that is run by a group of six permanent staffers, the Board of Advisors, the Board of Regents, and two volunteer groups known as the docents and the Gunstonians.
Women Patriots fall in first round of CAA Championship to Georgia State
|The George Mason Women Patriots (13-17) were defeated by the Georgia State Bulldogs (12-18) by a final score of 68-64 at Show Place Arena in Upper Marlboro, Md. Thursday afternoon in the opening round of the CAA Tournament.
It was the typical high energy matchup of an eight and nine seed with the victory coming down to the wire.
Mason, 2-0 all time when playing as the number eight seed prior to the game, looked to senior leadership for assistance.

Off-campus and community events for March 11
|Need plans for the weekend? Look no further! This week brings St. Patty’s Day activities, sports events, karaoke, and ice skating.
St. Patrick’s Day is upon us! Grab your friends and head out to the 12th Annual St. Patrick’s Day Parade this Saturday in Old Town Manassas. Parade is scheduled for 11 a.m. and lasts until 12:15 p.m. For parade route info, visit the event website.
Food competition to be held at Mason Inn
|Dozens of chefs from around the region will be frying, baking and sautéing against each other this Friday at the Mason Inn.
The Mason Inn will play host to the 5th annual ARAMARK's Culinary Excellence competition (ACE) for the region. ARAMARK, a company that specializes in food distribution for hospitals, schools and businesses, will have their regional chefs come together and battle each other for the chance to move on to the national competition in Florida.
Funds are Fried Day kicks off
|The first annual “Funds are Fried Day” kicked off on Wednesday offering students, alumni and faculty a chance to learn more about the importance of private donations to Mason.
The Office of Annual Giving sponsored the event which helped educate people on the impact of private philanthropy at the university and gave students an opportunity to donate money to different causes at Mason.
