[VIDEO] Workout of the Week - Burpees
|In honor of the homecoming game on Feb. 15, this week’s exercise will hopefully get you prepared for all the jumping you will do if you choose to cheer on your fellow Patriot basketball teams.
Burpees are a great full body exercise that can test your strength and fitness level. To perform this exercise, you first want to make sure you have enough floor space.
Snowstorm brings temporary changes to Mason parking
|With the impending snowstorm, Mason Parking & Transportation is opening the gates to Rappahannock and Shenandoah Decks for all general parking. Students are advised to move their cars from the open lots to the decks, where overnight restrictions will be waived for Wednesday and Thursday evening.
Mason establishes partnership with Mexican university
|In the Delegates Lounge of the Department of State, the Mason Enterprise Center (MEC) finalized a deal to take their business incubator model global. The deal formalized a partnership between the MEC and the Autonomous University of Nuevo León (UANL) to build economic prospects in Mexico and collaborative business ventures. The deal is a landmark as the first partnership formed under the Small Business Network of the Americas, a recently launched State Department program.
Welcome to the A-10: 2014 Mason Baseball
|On Friday, Mason men’s baseball will enter a new era in their history. Always a consistent contender for the Colonial Athletic Association regular season and conference titles, the Patriots face an entirely new set of competition in the Atlantic 10.
Selected to finish fifth in the 12-team conference, Mason will open up play at the University of South Carolina Upstate, the first of seven games in the Palmetto State before their first home game of the season against Hartford on February 28th.

|Mason’s strategic plan, passed late last semester, outlined a commitment to boost research funding and incorporate more research into undergraduate programs.
Part of this transition has raised discussion about how faculty will spend their time, and finding a balance between research and teaching.
Walnut Street Theatre charms Mason with heartfelt production of "Driving Miss Daisy"
|The Walnut Street Theatre performed “Driving Miss Daisy” in their third production at Mason's Center for the Arts.
On Feb. 7, excited “Daisy” fans gathered in the Center of the Arts’ Concert Hall as music from the jazz age set the tone for the evening’s play. “Driving Miss Daisy,” directed by Bernard Havard, is a story about friendship and acceptance.

Updated: News Hub for the Provost Candidates
|With the impending departure of Dr. Peter Stearns, who will step down to join the history department, the search is underway for a new provost. The Provost Search Committee has narrowed the search down to four candidates, each of whom will give a presentation to Mason faculty, staff, and students before the final decision is made.
Provost candidate David Wu delivers presentation to Mason community
|In a presentation to administration and faculty, David Wu, a finalist in Mason’s Provost search, highlighted the need for universities to be responsive to trends in higher education. Out of 70 applicants, Wu, dean of the Rossin College of Engineering and Applied Science at Lehigh University, was chosen by the provost search committee as one of the four finalists for the position.

|The provost search committee presented Dr. Diane Chase as one of their four finalists chosen for the position of university provost on Feb. 4.
Chase, currently the executive vice provost at the University of Central Florida, is an anthropologist by training, who spent the session presenting her relevant credentials and experience, as well as answering the questions of the various Mason faculty members and staff in the audience.
