Men's Volleyball suffers first conference loss against Penn St.
|The George Mason Men’s Volleyball team fell for the first time in Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA) play, losing to nationally ranked Penn State, 3-0, at the RAC Saturday night.
The Patriots were coming off a win Friday night against Rutgers-Newark, but Penn State showed why they are the No. 11 team in the nation, as they won each set by scores of 25-19, 25-19 and 25-20. The entire match was competitive, but Penn State would jump out to a lead and not yield it, despite the Patriots’ valiant attempts.
Men's Volleyball sweeps Rutgers-Newark
|The George Mason Men’s Volleyball team was torrid Friday night with a swift 3-0 sweep of Rutgers-Newark at the RAC. The final scores of each set were 25-20, 25-23 and 25-21 respectively.
The Patriots improve their record to 11-3 overall, and 6-0 in the Eastern Intercollegiate Volleyball Association (EIVA). Rutgers-Newark fell to 10-3 overall, and 3-3 in the conference.
Women Patriots' comeback thwarted by Towson, fall 59-53
|The George Mason Women’s Basketball team (12-14, 6-9) fell to Towson (9-17, 3-12) 59-53 Sunday afternoon at the Patriot Center. Towson has now won seven straight against the Patriots dating back to the 2006-07 season.
Both teams struggled to open the game, as only 15 combined points were scored nearly halfway through the first half.
