Reminder: last day to add/drop classes 9/14

Students beware! If there’s a class that you are itching to get into, or one you’d rather run away from, Tuesday, Sept. 14, is an important date: it marks the last day you will be allowed to add classes for the fall semester. The date is also the last day students can drop a class without receiving any tuition penalty.

Student Activities gets new name, student centers still SUB I and SUB II

New and returning GMU students know the names SUB I and SUB II -- maybe because they needed to pick up their mail in SUB II, or perhaps because they had to visit the Health Office in SUB I.

Both of the more than 25-year-old buildings, currently under renovation, represent two active student centers on campus and now also represent a debate over naming.

Card Office mistakenly processes $65,250 meal plan

A junior George Mason University student recently signed-up for a Super Patriot meal plan and got charged with a little more than she bargained for. About 130 times more, if you do the math.

Register upgrades cause technical issues at Ike’s, Starbucks

Unrelated to the electrical problems that caused Pilot House to close Thursday, Starbucks and Ike’s were forced to close early Friday night due to technical issues of their own.

Licensing issues have slowed the conversion to the register systems at several locations, including Starbucks, Ike’s and Rathskellar, according to Denise Ammaccapane, Resident District Manager of Mason Dining. 

Citing Safety Concerns, Pilot House Closes Doors for Thursday

Mason Drops in Latest 'Up-and-Coming' Rankings

In August of 2008, George Mason University boasted its status as the #1 “Up-and-Coming School” rated by the US News and World Report. 

In 2009, Mason dropped a spot as the University of Maryland Baltimore County (UMBC) claimed the top ranking, with Mason coming in at #2.

In the most recent U.S. News and World Report rankings, released August 17, Mason's “Up-and-Coming” rank dropped to #5 with UMBC staying atop the list for the second consecutive year. However, GMU received several other distinctions.
