Sherrod Wright beats VCU at the buzzer
|There are 3.8 seconds left on the clock, the Patriots trailing by two. Ryan Pearson has the ball at the baseline looking for Bryon Allen, but he gets cut off. About to fall over the line, Pearson tosses with the ball to the only open target – Sherrod Wright.
Wright takes three dribbles. He pulls up for the jumper with a hand right in his face.
Swish. 62-61.
“I made the shot of my dreams,” Wright said.
Dir-T Birdz win intramural soccer championship
|The Dir-T Birdz defeated the Saints, 1-0, to capture the Fall Co-Rec Soccer title Thursday night in front of a lively crowd at Robinson Field.
Both teams were undefeated, 5-0, entering the championship game of the 10-team league.

Wizards Pep Rally canceled, Tip-off to go on as planned
|Due to inclement weather, the Washington Wizards’ Pep Rally scheduled to take place in President's Park tonight has been canceled.
The pep rally had been scheduled for 10 p.m. as a lead in to the Midnight Tip-Off event being held at the Patriot Center tonight.
The Midnight Tip-Off will go on as scheduled and doors to the Patriot Center will open at 11 p.m. with the event beginning at 12:01 a.m.
