Student Government hosts legislative forum

George Mason University Student Government held a legislative forum on budget cuts and tuition increases for students titled "Speak Up or Pay Up" yesterday.

The forum consisted of 3 delegates from the Virginia General Assembly, representatives from "Virginia 21" a non-profit advocacy group for politically informed young adults, and senators from Student Government. After prepared questions, moderators from SG shifted towards a Q & A segment for the audience.

C2M's George Yanez recently stopped by North Plaza to cover the new Student Government initiative, "What Do You Want Wednesdays." SG senators and chairs recorded student concerns, and Speaker of the Senate, Allyson Bowers spoke to C2M about the new event. Those present were also treated to free hot chocolate and Spunkbuggy cookies.

Vote Vans running today

George Mason Student Government is sponsoring Vote Vans today to transport students to local poll sites. The vans leave Sandy Creek Parking Deck all day until 7 p.m.

Cultural Fusion Fairfax begins, brings together Mason's international cultures

A little rain, chilly temperatures and a gas leak didn't hurt Cultural Fusion Fairfax. The event designed to bring together George Mason University's diverse cultures, departments and international groups kicked-off Wednesday on the Quad at George Mason University's Fairfax campus.

Hispanic Heritage Month kicked off today at North Plaza with “Bienvenida Latina,” an event hosted by the Hispanic Student Association featuring music, dance performances, as well as meet and greets with Hispanic organizations. The heritage month will run from Sept. 15 to Friday, Oct. 22.
