HOT 99.5's “Samy K” stopped by George Mason University earlier today to collect bras for the radio station’s Bras for a Cause program.
From 8-10 a.m. the local station asked members of the community to drop off new or lightly used bras that will be hung at District Night Club this Friday to raise breast cancer awareness. Following the party, the bras will be donated to a women’s shelter, said Megan Anderson, the promotions coordinator at HOT 99.5.
Guests at the club will also have the opportunity to bid on bras that have been signed by celebrities such as Katy Perry, Rihanna, Usher and Ludacris. All proceeds from the auction, as well as the entry fee of $10, according to Anderson, will go towards the Susan G. Komen breast cancer fund.
By 9 a.m. Samy estimated that they had collected about 30 bras from Mason, adding that it had been a “great turn out so far.”
Students who donated bras were given the choice of several different items, including a B.o.B CD, to HOT 99.5 stickers to hats.
