No Seats for the Obese? In Some Cases, Passengers Should Purchase Two Seats
|Obesity is a problem that many Americans face today. However, the other day, I heard a story about famed director Kevin Smith, who is widely known for his role as Silent Bob in the Clerks films, being removed from a Southwest Airlines flight because he was too fat to fit into a seat. At first this astounded me; I never knew someone could actually be kicked off a flight due to body size.
American Media Today: Where Did The News Go?
|The American media has changed from what it used to be. The American media used to play a watchdog role, being there for the people and giving the people access to information that they wouldn’t otherwise have. From what I see in today’s media, there is almost nothing that resembles that. First, I have to address the fact that media is changing.
Secretary Clinton Vs. China Is the United States Government Going Too Far with Foreign Google Affair?
|About two weeks ago, I heard a story about how China attempted to hack Google in order to gain access to the e-mail accounts of human rights activists, and frankly it didn’t surprise me.
I have gotten used to China’s attempts to control what its people can or cannot do on the Internet, from the time the Chinese government blacked out YouTube and then moved on to block Twitter and Facebook.
College: Worth the Risk? Debt with a College Degree
|I sat down on Saturday night with my father the week before spring semester and we weighed our options for sending me back to college. My total bill came up to $8,012, not including books. We looked at our bank accounts and decided that the best option would be to take out a loan, and my father jokingly told me, “You better get a good job and pay this back.”
I laughed, but his words echoed in my head, and they haven’t left yet, because, honestly, there is no guarantee that I will be able to pay off this loan anytime soon.

President Barack Obama has made a trip to China to speak with its leaders about many things, but one of the major things that he wished to talk about was the impact that China has made on the environment.
This is a good move on the president’s part. China needs to be steered in the right direction.
They have simply continued to pollute with no care for the environment.
In 2007, China overtook the U.S. as the world’s largest emitter of carbon dioxide, and it has not slowed down since.
South Africa Welcomes the FIFA World Cup: The Value of Soccer on an International Stage
|By Justin Lalputan, Broadside Correspondent
There are only two sporting events in the world that cause nearly every single country to stop what they are doing to watch, and both occur every four years. One is the Olympics, which occurs during the winter and summer.
The other is the FIFA World Cup. Many people, especially Americans, dismiss it as a simple soccer game, but it is far from that.
The World Cup is a large-scale soccer tournament that can have effects that many world leaders wish they could conjure.
