Mason goes home happy after 71-39 win

George Mason men's basketball picked up a win in blowout fashion over the Monmouth Hawks by a 71-39 final margin. Ryan Pearson picked up another double-double with 16 points and 12 rebounds.

George Mason's men's basketball team (1-1) took a 76-79 loss in an overtime thriller to Florida International (1-0). The loss came in the first round of the NIT Season Tip-Off in Blacksburg, Va.

BLACKSBURG, Va. – Much like Friday night’s grueling overtime victory over Rhode Island, the Patriots struggled to find a rhythm against the Florida International defense and fell in overtime 79-76.

FIU guard DeJuan Wright scored a game-high 23 points, but it was sophomore guard Phil Taylor that controlled the game late as his 14 points allowed the Panthers to escape with a narrow victory and advance to the second round of the NIT Preseason Tipoff.

Club football falls against Virginia University of Lynchburg

The Mason men’s basketball squad (1-0) opened the season strong with a hard-fought 92-90 overtime victory over the Rhode Island Rams (0-1) Friday night in front of a packed house in the Patriot Center, capturing their ninth consecutive season-opening win.

American University proved to be too much for the women's basketball team as they fell 55-51 at home in the season opener on Nov. 11.
