The George Mason University men's basketball team celebrated a victory against Delaware on Tuesday night, ending the game with a score of 78-55.

George Mason University (14-4, 7-1) fell for the first time in conference play after a 58-57 loss to the Northeastern University Huskies (12-6, 7-1) last Wednesday. The team suffered a devastating blow when senior guard John Vaughan collapsed on the court during a free throw attempt. Prior to the injury, Vaughan led the team with 19 points on 7-of-10 shooting, five of which came from three-pointers.

Colorado Rapids Draft Mason’s Adjeman-Pamboe

The excitement did not have to end for Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe after a tough second round loss in this past season’s NCAA tournament. The senior forward will embark on a new journey after being drafted in the second round, 28th overall out of 60, in the 2009 Major League Soccer Super Draft held in St. Louis on Jan. 15.

Mason Basketball Player Collapses

Senior guard John Vaughan collapsed during last night's basketball game against Northeastern University. During the Huskies’ free-throw, he fell unconscious and remained on the floor for over fifteen minutes. According to ESPN.com, Vaughan suffered a concussion after "absorbing an inadvertent elbow from Northeastern's Eugene Spates with 2:12 remaining" in the game.

PHOTOS: Mason Basketball Team Keeps Winning

The George Mason's University men's basketball team kept up their winning streak over the winter break, winning eight of nine games and bringing their season record to 14-3. According to GoMason.com, this is the team's "best start in school history." Their next home game will be against Delaware on January 27 at 7:00 p.m.

It's in the Game: 2006 Patriots Named Top Cinderella

How would the 2006 George Mason University basketball team match up against some of the best ever in college basketball? In EA Sports’ NCAA Basketball ‘09, fans will get to see just that, as the team was voted into the game via an online poll from the game’s Web site asking “Who is the greatest Cinderella of all time?”

The team beat out such notables as last year’s Davidson Wildcats and the 1999 Gonzaga Bulldogs.

Post-Gunston Era: New Mascot Gets Mixed Reactions

At the men’s basketball opener, when the George Mason University community was introduced to its new and yet-to-be named mascot, student reaction appeared to indicate the welcome was far from warm. The mascot, designed to reflect “patriot spirit in the 21st century,” received an overwhelming amount of boos. Some students refused to give him friendly high-fives. To many at Mason, whether they liked Gunston or not, the new mascot has created some tension.

Men's Soccer Moves Forward: Eight Crazy Nights

Freshman midfielder Eber Martinez scored the game-winning goal from 25 yards out in the 47th minute to lead George Mason (14-6-2) past University of Pennsylvania (11-3-4) in the first round of NCAA Division I Men’s Soccer Championship on Friday at George Mason Stadium. The 1-0 victory was Mason’s first in NCAA Tournament play since the 1996 season when the Patriots defeated University of Virginia 1-0 in the first round. Senior forward Kwame Adjeman-Pamboe added an assist to extend his point-streak to eight games.

Student Reaction to Sunday’s Redskins Game

The Redskins love to have their backs against the wall and they made that official losing to the Cowboys at home on Sunday. With many teams in the NFC fighting for a wild card spot for the playoffs, the Redskins are going to have to win almost, if not all, their remaining games, to secure a spot in the playoffs. Starting the season at 4-1, everyone started to jump on the Skins’ bandwagon, but are people falling off of it now? Throughout the semester, before and after a game, there are many Mason students sporting their redskins gear on campus but will that change if the Redskins continue to lose?
