|A 20-point first half lead wasn’t enough of a cushion for the George Mason University men’s basketball team as the Drexel University Dragons crawled—and at times sprinted—back to steal a conference road game from the Patriots, 58-54 Thursday night.

New global studies building to replace Lecture Hall
|Say goodbye to the Lecture Hall. The 47-year-old building is being demolished to make way for the new Rappahannock Building, a multi-purpose facility centered on global studies.
The Rappahannock Building, opening fall of 2015, will be six stories tall, with the top four floors devoted to student housing.
“Housing will be mostly for the globally themed [Learning Living Communities],” said Judith Green, executive director of the Office of International Programs and Services.

Sodexo and other company present competing visions for Mason Dining
|Two dining companies, Sodexo and Chartwells, gave bid presentations on Dec. 5 outlining each company’s vision for the dining future they would offer at George Mason University.
Dining contracts last five years, and include a renewal option at the end of agreement. Sodexo’s contract expires this January.
Mason hosting town halls for input on strategic vision
|In an effort to create a new vision for the future, George Mason University is hosting a series of town halls that will allow students, faculty and staff to provide input on what they believe should be included in the strategic vision.
“We really do want to be as inclusive as possible,” said Carrie Klein, project manager for President Angel Cabrera’s office. “And reach as many people on campus as we can.”
Allen's last-second layup lifts Patriots over Boston University in sloppy 48-45 win
|The George Mason University Patriots pulled off a 48-45 come-from-behind victory over the Boston University Terriers on Saturday at the Patriot Center.
Junior guard Bryon Allen scored three of his seven total points with 0.2 seconds remaining in the game and the score tied at 45. Allen hit a last second acrobatic layup while drawing a foul, sending him to the line for an additional point opportunity.
Mason (4-2) ended the game on a 9-0 run to pull off the win, despite finishing with the lowest point total of any game they have played this season.
Mason students speak out about Israeli-Palestinian conflict
|In light of recent operations by the Israeli military in the Gaza Strip, dozens of students attended a Nov. 15 protest on the Gaza Strip held at George Mason University's North Plaza.
The recent Israeli military actions are directed at Hamas, the Islamic political party that governs the Gaza Strip. Israeli forces have conducted missile-strikes in the area, while Israeli cities have been targeted by Hamas rocket-fire.
Protestors took turns discussing their opinions about the crisis, some shedding tears as they expressed their sympathy for the people of Gaza.
Study: Mason grads earn high wages compared to other Virginia colleges
|George Mason University graduates are making about five thousands dollars more than their co-workers, according to a recent study.
The State Council of Higher Education for Virginia released their institution and program-specific data for the wages of recent graduates 18 months after graduation. The study breaks down the average wages by different majors in each institution.
NoVa plays critical role in Obama victory in Virginia
|After numerous candidate visits to George Mason University and the surrounding area, Mason students and the nation voted to reelect President Obama to his second term in office.
Nationally, media outlets projected Obama as the winner around 11 p.m. after projecting that he won Ohio, a key swing state in the campaign.
Obama went on to win Wisconsin, Nevada, New Hampshire, Pennsylvania, Iowa, Wisconsin and Virginia, all of which were considered swing states throughout the election. Romney won North Carolina, another swing state focused on during the campaign.
