Notes from the Political Frontline
California Governor Arnold Schwarzenegger has officially announced his endorsement of Republican hopeful John McCain.
“He’s a great American hero and an extraordinary leader,” the actor-turned-politician said as the pair visited a solar energy and technologies firm in Los Angeles.
Mitt Romney is set to purchase air time in California’s costly media markets according to an announcement made by Romney’s political director Carl Forti this morning. It is not known yet if McCain, who spent slightly more than Romney on advertising in the final days of the Florida battle, will try and match the Massachusetts Senator’s sum.
While John McCain will move his attention eastward as Super Tuesday approaches, Mitt Romney is scheduled to attend the funeral of Gordon Hinckley, the former president and prophet of the Church of Jesus Christ of Latter-day Saints, in Salt Lake City on Saturday. This will cut valuable campaigning time off of Romney’s intense campaigning schedule and once again focus the eyes of the media and the nation on Romney’s faith.
