Campus connection is topic of work session tonight
Options for connecting the east and west parts of Mason’s Fairfax campus will be at the center of a work session tonight with the Fairfax City Council and university representatives.
The session is billed as an outreach to the community about the proposed traffic changes.
As Mason officials plan future transportation projects, tonight’s work session will be a chance for the council and community to provide feedback to the university. The project under review would connect the main campus, Ox Road, and Braddock Road through the West Campus.
The work session will be held following the regularly scheduled council meeting, which begins at 7 p.m. in the City Hall Annex.
Such a connection would involve improvements to University Drive west of Ox Road; construction of a new road following Rapidan River Road from University Drive to near the West Campus Parking Lot entrance; and construction of a new road from south of the Field House to Mason Pond Drive.
Tonight’s meeting comes while Mason is in the early stages of project development and while a final plan is not yet approved.
