Live @ Damon's Present SQUARE TRIO
By Connect Mason's Matthew Todd
Damon’s Grill and WGMU present Square Trio March 1 (7pm to 11pm). According to the band’s Myspace page, “Square Trio is the dynamic amalgamation of three thriving songsmiths who collectively and individually create, compose, and perform euphonious music for the enjoyment of humanity.
Because each member of the band writes music independently, and because each member also contributes to the collective song-writing process, Square Trio frequently invokes a variety of alluring and inspired musical styles, some of which include:
Jazz-Rock-Dance-Pop-Lounge-Trance-HipHop-Folk-Funk-World-Fusion-Experimental
This all-inclusive approach to the song writing process comes from a general philosophy that maintains that great music is made in every genre, therefore limiting a band to a certain style, in effect, limits a band’s creative potential.
With this in mind, Square Trio aims to broaden its own musical horizons and hopes to inspire creativity and joy in the hearts of listeners through the uninhibited expression of melodious music in many forms.
The members of Square Trio often take turns exchanging instruments, or even playing multiple instruments at the same time, in order to maintain a fresh approach towards songwriting and performing.
This unorthodox practice of switching instruments and playing more than one instrument simultaneously creates a fascinating spectacle of Square Trio’s live performance, and it also helps showcase the multiple talents that each member of the band has to offer.
With so much creative room to work in, and so much natural talent, Square Trio is poised to create music that charms and entertains a large array of listeners for years.”
