Mason Cable Network and Program Board hosting student film competition
Love movies and always wanted to make your own? Want to get creative over spring break? Mason Cable Network and the Program Board are holding the Uberfest Spring Break Film Challenge, part of the Uberfest student film festival, from Friday March 9 to Monday March 19.
Participants have 10 days to create a short film following the theme of a certain challenge word that they will receive at the kickoff event in the Student Media Office on the ground floor of the Hub (formerly SUB II) on Friday at noon. Films must be dropped off in the same place by 2 p.m. on Monday, March 19.
“Our purpose [as a network] is to showcase student talent, so that’s something we really wanted to encourage,” said Ashlee Duncan, executive producer of the Mason Cable Network.
The films will be screened at the Uberfest film festival on April 23 and judged by faculty. The winning team will receive a $500 cash prize.
Those unable to attend the kickoff event at noon on March 9 to register must contact Ashlee Duncan at ashleeduncan@gmail.com to express interest in participating before the event.
Participants can use the event Facebook page to find information, network, and form teams.
