MSA Hosts Islam Awareness Week

By Connect Mason Reporter Paula Salamoun

The Muslim Student Association kicked off its Islam Awareness Week with a lecture by Imam Mohamed Magid, the Executive Director of the All Dulles Area Muslim Society (ADAMS). According to the MSA, the Monday night event was meant to tell “the story of a man named Ka'ab struggling against himself in the path of pleasing God.”

President of MSA, Farooq Yousuf, said that the goal of this event and Islamic Awareness week was to share the virtues, beliefs and characteristics of Muslims. In fact, the overriding theme, says Yousuf, was the idea of “the making of a Muslim.”

MSA will hold three more events this week. The next event will tackle the issue of women in Islam and the decisions they make within their religion. The lecture and open question forum will take place in Dewberry Hall on Tuesday, February 26th at 7:30 p.m. More information about the week's events can be found here.
