Peace, Love....Vandalism?

A Dining Services’ cart was vandalized by one sorority girl advertising for fall recruitment, according to University officials and sorority sources.

During Welcome Week, an unnamed sorority member chalked the rush theme, “Peace, Love, Sisterhood,” on the Dining cart, as well as the walls of several buildings on the Fairfax campus. The wall outside the new Starbucks was among the buildings chalked. The chalking was part of a larger campus-wide promotional effort.

Denise Ammaccapane, the Resident District Manager for Mason Dining, confirmed the chalking did occur, but also said she did not think it was a big deal.

“I applaud their enthusiasm to recruit,” Ammaccapane said.

The sorority girl apologized for the actions. Ammaccapane said she thought the sorority girl just got over excited, and she is sure it won’t happen again.

University policy forbids chalking on the walls of buildings.
