WGMU Advances in mtvU Woodie Awards

By C2M Director of Content Kevin Loker

WGMU, George Mason University’s student-run online radio station, has advanced into the Top 50 College Radio Stations in the country and is in the running for the College Radio Woodie, an annual award presented by mtvU.

“I am thrilled,” said WGMU Programming Director Alex Romano. “We are the last ones standing out of all of the college radio stations in Virginia, so we want everyone to get out there and vote for us.”

This year, mtvU, MTV Networks’ 24-hour college network, has paired up with RateMyProfessors.com to handle the voting for the contest. Voting is open to anyone, and can be accessed at http://radiowoodie.ratemyprofessors.com/state/virginia.

The next stage of the competition will begin on Tuesday, Sept. 29, when the list of the year’s Top 25 College Radio Stations is announced by mtvU.

Last year, the College Radio Woodie went to WICB, the student-run station at Ithaca College, N.Y.
