LETTER: Town Hall Meetings
Letter to the Editor
The Student Government motto in our office reads, “Serving you and needs of the Mason community.” In order to truly serve you, the GMU Student Government must hear your needs. Whether positive or negative, comments regarding your experience at George Mason University can be directed to us. We hear many concerns and complaints about student services, campus life, and the lack of pride at this university. Depending on whom you talk to you, the gamut ranges on how well Student Government actually addresses the issues of the student body. Instead of complaining to friends and their friends about what you do or do not like at this institution, voice those opinions to our organization.

One way in which Student Government is allowing students to ask questions and get feedback is through our first Town Hall meeting on March 3, at 7:30 p.m. at Eisenhower Lounge in President’s Park. We will have administrators in attendance to discuss topics like dining and housing services. There are several changes within meal plan selections, food options, and housing plans that many of you have talked about or mentioned to someone else. In order to get the facts straight or to have your opinion heard by administrators dealing with the problems you complain about, come to Student Government events like our Town Hall meetings. Show that you and other students care about the issues that affect your experience at George Mason. Show that you are at least interested in what is going on at your school. In the end, take and show pride in your school and your Student Government with the hope you get involved and become aware of how important your involvement is, as the University continues to grow and develop.
Student Government is meant to be a strong advocate for the student body at Mason. I am asking more of you; likewise, you should ask more of us. Do not be afraid to get involved or ask questions. Remember that all universities should be about their students. With your help and the support of Student Government, we can make George Mason University about you!
With Patriot Pride,
Ijeoma Nwatu
Student Body Vice President
