The Virginia Citizens Defense League joined students on Wednesday to protest university policy on carrying firearms on campus.
Current university policy says no students, faculty or staff can carry weapons on campus. Visitors – such as members of the VCDL – are legally allowed to carry registered weapons outdoors on campus. They may not bring them into campus buildings or university-sponsored events.
Members of the VCDL said their goal in visiting campus was to encourage students and alumni to refuse to give financially to Mason or any college until policy changed.
In the above video, Connect2Mason spoke to students and protesters on both sides of the debate.
