Monday, March 5 What it is: Volition, Mason’s undergraduate art and literary journal, is hosting an open mic event that will feature student poets, writers and musicians. Why it’s our pick: Not only will this event feature lots of intriguing material produced by your fellow students, there will also be free food! Tuesday, March 6 What it is: The Office of Orientation Family Programs and Services is holding their first in a new series on monthly webinars this week. This session’s topic is off-campus housing, including discussions of how to make the transition from living on-campus, how to locate suitable housing and what resources Mason provides to make the process easier. Why it’s our pick: Ready to leave the restrictions of dorms behind and strike out on your own? Wednesday, March 7 What it is: The Office of International Programs and Services is hosting the fourth International Café this week, featuring food, drink and games from around the world. Why it’s our pick: This week’s Café includes refreshments and fun from such countries as Japan, Australia, Iran, Ireland, the Philippines and Russia. Thursday, March 8 What it is: Comedian Seaton Smith will be bringing his “smooth charisma,” “explosive energy” and “unforgettable characters” to Mason this week in a comedy performance hosted by the Program Board. Smith is known for his appearance on the Opie and Anthony Virus tour and his webseries Annoy Charlie Smith Inc. Why it’s our pick: Not only will laughs be in abundance, but the show is completely free! Comedy fans probably won’t want to miss it. Where: Johnson Center Cinema, 8 – 10 p.m. |

Sunday, March 11 What it is: “The world’s preeminent children’s choir” will be appearing at the Center for the Arts this Sunday, performing their repertoire of Austrian folk songs, classical pieces, pop songs and medieval chants. In existence for over 500 years, the Vienna Boys Choir is held in as high esteem as ever. Why it’s our pick: Fans of choral music should jump at the opportunity to see this well-known institution of the craft perform locally. Tickets are available for $23, $38, and $46. Where: Center for the Arts Concert Hall, 4 p.m. |
