Lunch Break: 911 Manners, Tip for Upgrading Ciao

By Connect Mason News Director Elizabeth Stern

Daily items of interest from all over the news and blog feeds.

Apple is being accused of trying to make Microsoft look bad due to foul play on Apple's behalf. Apple Software Update, instead of only updating existing applications a user has downloaded at his or her discretion, is adding other programs onto one's computer which were never asked for in the first place. Theorists believe this may be Apple's way of making Microsoft's operating system appear inferior to Apple's by making it less efficient.

Listen to the 911 calls made by a polite, calm and collected Steven Sueppel. After hanging up when the operator inquired as to what his emergency was, police found his wife and four children dead. Sueppel was indicted last month for embezzling approximately half a million dollars which may have been used to purchase cocaine. At least he said "ma'am" and "please" to the 911 operator.

Apparently the third husband isn't the charm. Pamela Lee Anderson's marriage to Rick Salomon, who is famous for shooting the sex tape featuring Paris Hilton, has been officially annulled after only eight weeks after tying the knot. She's single, boys! ...Again. (Just watch out for the whole Hepatitis C thing.)

Marion Barry doesn't look (quite) as bad now that Chicago mayor Kwame Kilpatrick has been convicted of eight felonies. Despite being charged with counts like perjury, obstruction of justice, conspiracy to obstruct justice and misconduct in office, Kilpatrick refuses to resign.

If Kilpatrick winds up in jail, he can look forward to a four-star menu. And by four-star, I mean not. Neutraloaf is literally so bad that prisons have been using it for decades as a form of punishment to make prisoners more docile. It is a legal practice. Meaning you can try making some yourself for your favorite roommate/co-worker/Housing administrator in charge of RAP. Who knows, maybe you'll even find it in Ciao Hall and then you can smuggle it out.
