Local Endorsements/Major Endorsements: Steel Workers Union

Former North Carolina Senator John Edwards is running for the Democratic presidential nomination a second time, after his unsuccessful vice-presidential bid with running mate John Kerry in 2004. In addition to taking a strong stance against poverty, Edwards also has proposed a specific plan for universal health care that he says would cover every person in America. He supports the immediate withdrawal of troops from Iraq and wants the US to lead the world in ending the genocide in Darfur, the conflict in Uganda, and fighting diseases like AIDS, malaria, and tuberculosis.
