OPINION: McCain Sells Soul For Votes
By Broadside Opinion Editor Arthur Gailes

It’s election time again, and we all know what that means: it’s time to listen to republicans promising to cut taxes and increase spending.
In the midst of the heated democratic nomination, it’s very easy to overlook the simple mistakes of the Sen. John McCain campaign. So he gets away with the empty rhetorical promises of his economic plan while his opponents are too distracted with one another to criticize him for it.

Just a few minutes ago, I finally put down my fall 2008 George Mason University class catalog. I finished my class selection for the next semester and I have high hopes for English 398, 336 and others. I'm eager to see what's next as I charge through my major requirements and fundamentals. Yet, as I dive into higher level classes, one thought persists: God, I hope things finally get hard!

Birthmark

My best friends and I would run, breathless, through the streets, skipping school and running from the police. We pole-danced on buses as we sped down to Georgetown, our high-pitched laughter grabbing the attention of the old, scraggly bus driver who would leer at our nubile, 14-year-old bodies through the rear view mirror. We sat precariously on the ledge by the aqueducts, a mere push from a 100-foot fall into the Potomac. We spent hours on the waterfront, Fort Reno, the diners book-ended between Water Street and the Maryland border, the 4000 Wisconsin Avenue movie theater, and the woods behind the theater where we shared our first cigarettes and gulped down cheap liquor. As precocious as we were, it would take me years to realize I was still very much a little girl at 14, sleeping with my childhood stuffed animal at night, braiding my hair in pigtails, doodling Xs and Os in the margins of my notebooks. Even now, at age 20, I still call my father Daddy.

Yup-Di-Gid: Introducing the Reverse Cowgirl
Editor's Note: This image is in no way a commentary on the military, the war in Iraq or any other idea beyond showing the technique behind this sex position. After a night of camera failures and memory card botches, the Gi-Joe and monkey were all I could find in my brother's room.
And again, these daily positions are meant to inform. Don't continue to read if you're uncomfortable with gritty details... or stuffed animals in strange positions.

Oh Schnickeys, I Missed My Cue....Oh, Wait, Did I?

From my previous experiences with musical performances — especially with musical performances for my school, I knew that appearance was just as important as musical quality. For performances from sixth grade and on, I stressed over every detail on my outfit; the outfit only became more important once I reached high school, where students were denied their right to perform if they showed up to competitions wearing the wrong color socks. So, during our interview about a week ago when I agreed to play “iPod 2” in Dr. Jesse Guessford's concert I was a little taken aback when he told me to show up in street clothes; just as long as I had my score, iPod, and a stop watch.

Two shutouts later, the women were feeling much better about the staff behind Anderson.
