Carolina Liar Releases LP

Carolina Liar is putting it all out there with their debut album, Coming to Terms. Full of straightforward lyrics and steady guitars, it’s a strong opening effort from the California-Stockholm based band.

Sounding a bit like The Killers and The Bravery, Carolina Liar takes use of lead singer Chad Wolf’s deeper voice and mixes it up nicely with a collection of simple guitar riffs and sweeping keys.

Mason Alum Releases First Novel

This month, John Michael Cummings, a George Mason University alumnus, will have his debut novel published. The novel, "The Night I Freed John Brown," was expanded from an earlier novella, "The House of My Father." The book is a transitional narrative, chronicling some of the many obstacles that arise from childhood into adolescence.

AVT Undergrad Night Classes Added

Recently, Art and Visual Technology students at George Mason University have discussed the possibility of undergraduate courses not being offered at night. This is to allow more time slots for graduate courses, which will accommodate graduate students who are enrolled in studies but are working during the day.

Alpha Kappa Lambda Grows

Alpha Kappa Lambda, the “Freshman Fraternity” that Broadside first wrote about last semester, has continued to grow throughout the 2007-2008 school year.

The group, a local chapter of the national Alpha Kappa Lambda association, was founded in November by Ryan Harty, Joseph Russo and Ray Sami. All three Mason students are freshmen and began the process of building AKL during their first semester at school.

Student Organizations Paint Benches

Friday, numerous George Mason University student organizations gathered outside of SUB I in order to represent their groups and paint the spirit benches that lead to Fenwick Library.

With each organization, an application must be submitted in order to be chosen to paint a bench. In the application, the student organization must represent a positive involvement with the Mason community as well as an exciting design for the bench itself.
