GMU in talks for Tyson’s expansion

George Mason University officials are in talks with Fairfax planners about the possibility of expanding to Tyson’s Corner.  The talks are part of a planned development around Metro’s new Silver Line, where developers hope to include an outlet of higher education.  TBD has more.

Departments in 'pilot program' to test course evaluations online, drop paper

With the end of the semester approaching students will have a chance once again to grade and evaluate their professor’s performance. This year, however, more departments have decided to move to online evaluations in an effort to use fewer resources.

Beginning the last two weeks of the semester students can fill out the online evaluations on their classes and instructors and the results will be given to the instructors and their supervisors. 

Science and Technology addition to be completed by 2013

The Science and Technology I & II addition will be completed by Spring 2013. The 50,000-square-foot addition will add laboratory space for increased research opportunities for students, and the consolidated building will be the home of the new School of Physics, Astronomy and Computational Sciences.

First Mason prom attracts large turnout

Numbers don’t lie, and the numbers have it: George Mason University’s first-ever formal was a success.

A total of 125 people attended the event, which was held at the Mason Inn’s Junior Ballroom on April 16.

Police to target bad driving on Fairfax County Parkway


Commuters to campus who drive on the Fairfax County Parkway should take note that a new police initiative went into effect yesterday to target aggressive and reckless driving.

Students participate in Day of Silence

Students across the George Mason University campus participated in The National Day of Silence on April 15.

Corner Pocket Game Room closed for weekend

The Corner Pocket Game Room will be closed today and tomorrow due to a scheduled painting project. Regular hours will resume on Monday, April 18 at 11 a.m..

The Corner Pocket Game Room is located on the second level of “The Hub,” formerly known as Student Union Building II.
 

Mason to hold prom

George Mason University will hold its first formal dance on April 16 and is describing the event as a college prom. The prom will take place at the Mason Inn and will run from 7 – 11 p.m.

Free tickets were available at the Student Government office. An email was sent to students on April 13.

The event’s Facebook page invited students to “relive” their high school proms or “create another night of amazing memories.”
