Online housing selection 'paused', remaining students to be contacted

The Office of Housing Residence "paused" the housing selection process for the 2011 - 2012 academic year on Monday due to problems in the software, according to a message posted on the office's website.

'Polls' open for Student Government elections

Student Government election "polls" have opened and will continue to process votes until Wednesday evening. Students can vote via CollegiateLink, a website that Student Involvement has recently begun to utilize.

Payment options for vending machines soon to include Mason Money


On-campus vending machines will continue to take credit and cash later this spring, but they will also take Mason Money. (Jenna Beaver)

Plans are in place for a large percentage of vending machines to begin taking Mason Money by the end of spring semester.

Gun rights supporters plan Mason protest

This week a group of Mason students is partnering with a national gun rights group to protest firearm restrictions on campus.  The students will wear empty gun holsters while distributing flyers around Mason to bring awareness to their cause.  NBC Washington has more.

Online registration for housing slowed, but working

Pack your patience if you’re planning to register for a housing assignment today or tomorrow. According to a representative from Housing, the website to register is moving "slow."  

Students not retaining a room and using general selection were given set times by the housing office to sign up today and tomorrow to pick their housing assignment for the fall semester. According to a representative from Housing, with the influx of students trying to register, the website has been crashing.          

Aquatic and Fitness Center will be closed this summer

The Aquatic and Fitness Center located on the George Mason campus will be closed from May 23 to August 16.

The building will be closed in order to install new air handling machines in the roof, which are responsible for maintaining the proper air temperature, air quality and humidity.

The Mason Recreation department deemed it a necessary measure in order to protect the saftey of the students.

The George Mason Baseball team defeated the nation’s top offense, the Dukes of James Madison, 9-5, taking the first game of their three-game home series Friday afternoon.
